Back From the National Cheese Conference :)

Things have been buzzing lately - I've been sooooo busy with tours, updating my travel guide,s and prepping for the new semester that I haven't had time for full posts. But I still wanted to share a quick update.

Last weekend, the stunning Grinzane Cavour Castle hosted the national meeting of the Italian Cheese Tasters Association (think cheese sommeliers).

Saturday kicked off with a full-day workshop just for us teachers – a chance to learn new things and stay up-to-date. On Sunday, the festivities opened up to all members of the association and it was a joy to reconnect with so many dear friends I hadn't seen in a while. Naturally, we also got to sample some incredible (and rare) cheeses!

For those who haven't explored the Langhe hills yet, you should know that this is where incredible wines like Barolo, Barbaresco, and Alta Langa Spumante are made. So you can imagine that our culinary explorations extended beyond cheese. There was plenty of wine tasting, too, and some visits to gorgeous historic wineries.

Admittedly, it was a lot :) But I regret nothing! That said, the gym did see a little extra "me" time on Monday.  It's all about balance, right?
